The film I will be researching for research data 2 is the Johnsons Family Vacation. It is about a family undergoing many obstacles on their way to there annual family reunion/grudge match. With their rapper-wannabe son, teenage narcissistic daughter and youngest child with an imaginary dog Nate they prove it difficult to locate them to Caruthersville, Missouri if they can find the actual place.

The film I will be researching is Madeas Family Reunion. It is about a southern matriarch (Tyler Perry) who deals with a host of personal and family issues while planning her family’s upcoming reunion.

 I have chosen these two movies, as they are very similar in terms of genre, target audience, plot and ethnicities. Both movies show how families stick together and unify even with negative obstacles thrown their way. The budget for Johnson’s family vacation was 12 million whilst Madea family reunion was 6 million. Tyler Perry was the director of his own movie whilst starring in it as the main character and his alter ego Madea the southern matriarch. Madeas family reunion rotten tomato was 25% whilst Johnson’s family vacation was 6%. This suggests that people who visited the rotten tomato website thought Madeas family reunion was a good movie. Johnson family vacation imdb was 4.3/10 whilst Madeas family reunion was 5/10. Madea family reunion clearly has received more positive reception than Johnson’s family vacation. “This was a good movie. It had comedy and drama. The thing that was bad was that a man beats up on his wife. There was also just 1 inappropriate part were old men are “checking out” younger girls. 9+” This is a review stating that the movie is good however it contains many inappropriate scenes such as domestic violence and older men sexually looking at younger girls.

“Johnson’s family vacation movie isn’t very funny or original. The plot is lame and unoriginal, but you would think the writers could infuse some much-needed humour to make it bearable. Unfortunately, most attempts fail miserably”. According to this review this person does not seem to think humour was illustrated properly as most attempts failed miserably throughout the movie.
