Audience Research 

From my various audience researches I found out people’s opinions of my video. My survey monkey results showed me that 90% of my peers think that having a criminal record reduces ones prospects of getting a job whilst the other 10% do not. 82% of my peers think that ex-offenders are most likely to work in construction whilst the remaining 18% think that they are likely to work in food retail. In my focus group I asked various questions and the responses I got was positive as they mentioned that this idea portrays the act of giving second chances. The mood board for my focus group was deciphered differently as I got my peers to tell me what they think of it. Some stated that it “had a mixture of positive and negative”, “it connotes success from a violent background”. I also produced a target audience profile in which I was able to put myself in the position of an audience member viewing my idea. This included me assembling my character and hearing his response about my idea and what to expect. These responses from my different audience research allowed me to gain an understanding of what a real audience expect to see. These findings informed my idea because through these findings I was able to alter the way I depict my video. In order for me to connect with my target audience I had to include a scene that relates to them such as a criminal activity landing them in the position they are in. Because of this I included a drug-dealing scene, which may relate to some of my audience but most importantly symbolises criminal activity from a youth’s perspective. My audience findings did not change my idea, however it improved it. This is because I thought about various ways to make my video more motivating. My survey monkey results show that 82% of my peers think that ex-offenders will get a job in construction. This made me change and improve the job role of the subject in my video to a head teacher to illustrate that anything is possible as being a headteacher is a superior job role.
